McGrath enjoyed a strong season debut on Saturday at Perkins Stadium, tying for the team lead with five tackles and adding two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick in the Warhawks’ 42-7 triumph over Dubuque (Iowa). He posted his first interception with 14 seconds left in the first half as the Spartans threatened near midfield and returned it 14 yards to the UW-W 49-yard line. With 3:19 left in the third quarter, McGrath picked off Sean Duffy again near midfield and returned it eight yards to the Dubuque 43-yard line. On the Spartans’ next drive, he picked up a fumble forced by Matt Anderson at the Dubuque 36-yard line to set up another UW-Whitewater touchdown drive. McGrath also blocked a punt in the first quarter deep in Spartan territory to set up a Warhawk touchdown.
