Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln), Sophomore
Nickels won the long jump and finished second in the 60-meter dash Saturday to help UW-Whitewater win the season-opening, seven-team Karl Schlender Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse. She smashed her previous personal best in the long jump with an 18-09.25 (5.72 meters), good for second in the WIAC and third in NCAA Division III. Nickels' preliminary time of 8.20 in the 60-meter dash currently ranks sixth in the conference.
