Mike Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel), Junior, 125 Pounds
Tortorice posted a 4-0 record with one fall to win the 125-pound bracket and earn the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler honors Saturday at the Concordia Wisconsin Open in Mequon. He started the day with a first-period pin against Lakeland's Kurtis DeGroot, then defeated Wartburg's Connor Cleveland in a 3-0 decision. In the semifinals, Tortorice claimed a 5-3 decision by sudden victory over Joe Arroyo of Division II UW-Parkside. He bested Wheaton's Carlos Fuentez, currently ranked No. 2 in the D3wrestle.com national rankings, by a 9-3 decision. Tortorice, ranked third by D3wrestle.com, is now 8-2 for the season with two pins, one technical fall and one major decision.
