Jordan Newman (Blaine, MN/St. John's Military Academy), Senior, 197 Pounds
Newman finished 3-0 for the weekend at 197 pounds to help the No. 12 Warhawks to a 2-1 record, including a victory over No. 1 ranked Wartburg (Iowa), on Saturday at UW-La Crosse's Candlewood Suites Duals. He started the day with a 12-1 major decision over Sebastian Larson of No. 2 Augsburg (Minn.), and added a fall in 3:15 over Kody Vandeneykel in UW-Whitewater's 41-6 win over No. 21 Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.). In a showdown featuring the nation's top two ranked wrestlers at 197 pounds, Newman outlasted Wartburg's Kyle Fank in a 4-2 decision to seal the Warhawks' win over the Knights, who hadn't lost a dual since 2014. Newman is now 9-1 for the season and is ranked No. 1 in the nation at 197 pounds by both the National Wrestling Coaches Association and D3wrestle.com.
