Grant Thompson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich), Sophomore
Trailing 0-6, 0-2 and 0-40 in the third game of the second set, Thompson came back to gut out a 0-6, 6-3, 7-5 triumph at No. 4 singles and help the No. 16 Warhawks defeat 19th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) 5-4 in a dual match Saturday at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club in West Bend. His victory helped set the stage for UW-Whitewater to clinch the match. Thompson, who is ranked 44th in singles nationally, is currently tied for the team lead in wins with a 10-6 record.
