The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will continue action this Saturday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. at Concordia Moorhead, a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in a non-conference affair at Jake Christiansen Stadium in Moorhead, Minn.

Saturday's game can be heard live on KOOL 106.5 FM WKCH in the Whitewater area, or online at 940wfaw.com. Fans can also watch the game live and follow live stats.

The Warhawks enter Saturday's contest coming off their first season-opening loss since the 2003 season, falling 17-10 at Illinois Wesleyan. UW-Whitewater outgained the Titans 300-259 in total yardage but was done in by three turnovers inside Illinois Wesleyan territory, including two at the 1-yard line. Last Saturday's loss also snapped a 13-game non-conference, regular season win streak.

The Warhawks are ranked third in both Street & Smith's preseason national rankings and the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 and 15th in Lindy's Sports Division III Top 25. In the D3football.com poll, UW-Whitewater is ranked 15th, down 12 spots from a No. 3 ranking one week ago.

Concordia Moorhead enters Saturday's game on a six-game win streak dating back to last season after a season-opening 34-14 victory at Nebraska Wesleyan last Saturday. The Cobbers scored 19 first-quarter points, rushed for 238 yards at 5.3 yards per carry and forced six turnovers, including five interceptions.

NOTABLE

  • Since 2003, the Warhawks are 5-1 against opponents from the state of Minnesota. The lone loss came on Sept. 15, 2007, at Division II St. Cloud State, by a 26-16 score. UW-Whitewater last played a team from The Land of 10,000 Lakes on Nov. 22, 2014, defeating Macalester 55-2 in the first round of the NCAA Playoffs at Perkins Stadium.
  • The Warhawks are aiming for their 15th consecutive season with a winning record in non-conference games during the regular season. The team finished with a 1-2 mark in 2002 after playing two of the nation's top programs that season. (Mount Union, St. John's)
  • Despite last week's loss, UW-Whitewater stretched its streak of being ranked among the top 15 in the nation by D3football.com to 54 polls. The team had been among the top 10 in each of the last 46 weeks prior.
