The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team has announced its 2017 schedule. The program's 124th season of competition begins Saturday, Sept. 2, with a non-conference game against Illinois Wesleyan.
 
Season ticket and parking information will be released after July 1.
 
In their first of four road games to open the campaign, the Warhawks will travel to Bloomington, Ill., for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Titans, who finished with a 7-2 mark, including a 6-2 finish in the highly-competitive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
 
UW-Whitewater continues non-conference action at noon on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.). The Cobbers, who compete in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, finished 7-3 in 2016.
 
The Warhawks wrap up their non-conference schedule Saturday, Sept. 16, at Washington-St. Louis at 12 p.m. The Bears earned a share of the Southern Athletic Association title and reached the first round of the NCAA Championship, where they were defeated by UW-Oshkosh.
 
Following a bye week, UW-Whitewater resumes action Saturday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at UW-Oshkosh, which reached the Stagg Bowl in 2016. The last three games between the two teams have been decided by a combined seven points.
 
The Warhawks will play their first of four home games during the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. against UW-Stout. The team's home opener will also be Family Fest and Alumni Day at Perkins Stadium. Last season's Family Fest contest, a 17-14 triumph over UW-Oshkosh, drew a crowd of 17,535, the highest NCAA Division III attendance for a single game on record.
 
UW-Whitewater returns to action on a shortened week to host UW-La Crosse on Friday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. at Perkins Stadium.
 
Following road trips to UW-River Falls (Oct. 21, 1 p.m.) and UW-Stevens Point (Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m.), the Warhawks host UW-Platteville on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. for Homecoming and Hall of Fame Day at Perkins Stadium. The Pioneers earned an at-large bid to last year's NCAA Championship and finished 8-3.
 
UW-Whitewater wraps up the regular season Saturday, Nov. 11, against UW-Eau Claire at 1 p.m. on Shriners and Senior Day at Perkins Stadium.
 
The Warhawks finished the 2016 season with a 12-1 record, claiming the program's 35th Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship for the 11th time in the last 12 years.
