Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warhawk Men Hit Century Mark against Simpson College

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team scored 100 points against the visiting Simpson College in the first game of a Tuesday Night double header.

For the first minutes of the contest, the game was a back and forth battle. Simpson's guard, Cam Henderson, started off hot, scoring the teams first 11 points, including three straight threes to start the game. UW-Whitewater was able to match, taking a three point advantage at the first media timeout.

The Warhawks extended their lead out to seven, but a small run by Simpson tied the game at 26 with just 9 minutes. The Warhawks closed out the half on a phenomonal run, outscoring the Storm 23-8. A large part of the success came from Simpson going cold from deep, not making a single three in 8 attempts in the final 10 minutes of the half.

With a plus-15 advantage after the break, the Warhawks were able to keep the pressure on and build the lead up. UW-Whitewater held a 30-point lead on the end of a 15-0 run with just 8-minutes left in the game.

UWW hit the century mark with a fast break lay-up from Isaiah Robinson (Racine, Wis./Park). Simpson finished the game on a 11-0 run to close down the lead, but it was too little to cut down the Warhawks momentum.

Collin Madson (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) led all scorers with 28 to set a new career-high. Madson was 12-for-14 from the floor, making two threes. Madson added seven rebounds and two steals to his impressive stat line.

Darius Chestnut (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) added in 15 points of his own, going 6-for-7 from the floor with a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Richie Warren (Racine, Wis./Park) chipped in 13 points, matching Madson's 7 rebounds to lead the team. Rounding out double digit scorers, JR Lukenbill (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) scored 11 points with a team-high three threes.

The Warhawks shot 59.6% from the floor (41-69), holding Simpson to just 44.1% (26-59). UWW held the rebound margin for their third straight game, with a 36-30 rebound line.

UW-Whitewater will be back home for their next contest after the holiday weekend. The Warhawks take on Elmhurst on Tuesday, December 2nd at 7 PM in Kachel Gym.
