Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team were named to the All-Region IX teams by the United Soccer Coaches following their performances during the 2021 season.
Senior midfielder
Anna Brodjian (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) garnered first team accolades, and senior defender
Katy Kusswurm (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and sophomore forward
Olivia May (Elkhorn, Wis./Elkhorn Area) earned third team honors.
All three players helped the Warhawks reach the quarterfinals of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and post a 13-7 record for the year, including a 4-3 mark in conference play. Each member of the trio collected first team All-WIAC recognition following the season.
Brodjian finishes her career as a two-time first team all-region selection. She is tied for fourth in the region with five game-winning goals and ranks among the top 15 in the region in goals per game (0.67), points per game (1.44), shots per game (3.67), shots on goal per game (1.83), total goals (12) and total points (26).
Kusswurm wraps up her career as a two-time third team all-region honoree. She appeared in 19 matches in 2021, including 18 as a starter, and tallied one goal and one assist for three points. She was named WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete and first team Academic All-District® by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the third time in her career.
May, a first-time member of the all-region team, finished among the top 10 in the WIAC in goals (7), points (18), shots (48 / 2.67 per game) and shots on goal (26 / 1.44 per game). She tallied two game-winning goals during the season.
