Sara Poppe (Germantown/Kettle Moraine Lutheran)'s two first place finishes, and Madeline Roznos (Reedsburg/Reedsburg)' facility record in the steeplechase, led the UW-Whitewater women's track and field team to second place in the Jeff Miller Drake Alternative Meet Saturday in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Poppe led the Warhawks with two first place finishes, one in the long jump (5.69m) and the other in the triple jump (11.61m). Poppe was a provisional qualifier in each event. Roznos, a sophomore, followed Poppe's performance by placing first in the steeplechase (11:20.78), setting the new facility outdoor record. The old mark was 11:52.82 by Kaitlin Daugherty of Carroll University in 2009.
Others who placed first in their events were: Megan Morehart (Edgerton/Milton) in the 100 meter hurdles (15.77), Ryanne Bell (Boscobel/Boscobel) in the 400 meters (59.81), Shelby Demos (Janesville/Parker) in the high jump (5-3) and Angela Behrendt (Appleton/Appleton East) in the 10,000 meters (40:49.33).
Danielle Anton (Marshall/Marshall) placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a score of 1:06.09. Others who also finished second were: Rachel Puls (Hartford/Slinger) in the long jump (17-3.5), Brooke Bell (Milwaukee/Alexander Hamilton) in the 100 meter dash (12.34) and Jen Taylor (Whitewater/Whitewater) in the 10,000 meter (43:24.22).
Third place finishers included: Katie McCabe (Random Lake/Random Lake) in the 5,000 meter relay (18:46.46), JoLyn Owen (Middleton/Middleton) who ran a 16.61 in the 100 meter hurdles, Amanda Buchmeier (Mauston/Mauston) in the 10,000 (44:23.49), and Rachel Puls (Hartford/Slinger) in the triple jump (36-2.25).
Other point contributors included Katelyn Britt (Hartland/Arrowhead), fourth in the pole vault (10-6); Loryn Kressin (Greenfield/Wisconsin Lutheran), fifth in the pole vault (8-6), Kristen Heitsman (Janesville/Parker), fifth in the 100 meter dash (13.10); Megan Strandell (Oswego, IL/Oswego) fifth in the 800 meter dash (2:26.58); Liz Colver (Waukegan, IL/Waukegan), fifth in the javelin (104-10) and the Whitewater 'A' 4x400 relay team (4:20.08) placed fourth.
Also Alyssa Duncan (East Troy/East Troy), seventh in the 1500 (4:57.78); Kristi Egnarski (Watertown/Lakeside Lutheran), eighth in the 1500 (4:59.58); Amy Gasser (Tomah/Tomah), sixth in the 100 (13.31); Jackie Nett (Hilbert/Hilbert), seventh in the 800 (2:27.0), and Lisa D'Alessio, eighth in the 800 (2:28.10). And Jessa Luebke (Tomah/Tomah), sixth in the hammer (166-9); and Wendy Wise (Verona/Verona), sixth in the 3000 steeplechase (12:00.81).
The Warhawks' next meet will be at Monmouth College (IL) Saturday, May 1st.
