A four year letterwinner in wrestling, Hardy won Wisconsin State University Conference
(predecessor to the WIAC) championships at 126 pounds in 1982 and 1984. He finished
fifth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship in '82, and sixth in 1984, earning all-American honors both times. Hardy compiled a 116-31-1 record in his four years, second on the all-time list for career wins. He is also third in the UW-W record books for career pins (54), tied for fourth in consecutive pins with sixth during the 1983-84 season, and fifth in career team points (446.25). After earning the six consecutive pins during the 83-84 season, Hardy went on to pin 17 opponents that year, eighth best in school history. He also pinned 15 opponents in 1980-81, thirteenth on the school's all-time list. A graduate of Menomonee Falls East High School in 1979, Hardy is employed by Goodyear Wingfoot in Pewaukee.
