2018 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Team
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball senior pitchers
Heath Renz (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) and
Austin Jones (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) were selected to the 2018 D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Team.
Renz earned first team accolades, while Jones garnered honorable mention. The right-handers were integral in helping the Warhawks claim the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and clinch the program's 10th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Renz was named first team D3baseball.com All-America, third team American Baseball Coaches Association All-America, first team D3baseball.com and ABCA All-Midwest Region and first team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last season after finishing 9-0 with a 1.91 earned run average in 69.0 innings pitched. He was tabbed WIAC Pitcher of the Year and swept D3baseball.com and ABCA Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year honors.
Jones garnered D3baseball.com honorable mention All-America, D3baseball.com and ABCA first team All-Midwest Region and first team All-WIAC accolades in 2017. He recorded an 8-3 mark with a 1.91 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 85 innings of work.
The Warhawks open the 2018 season March 21 against Babson (Mass.) at the RussMatt Invitational in the Orlando, Fla., area.
