Woodson Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer senior Jenna Woodson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) has been nominated for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Woodson is one of 169 Division III nominees and one of a total of 517 honorees from across all divisions, the most in the history of the Woman of the Year program.

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award program was established in 1991. The four pillars of the Woman of the Year Award include academics, athletics, service and leadership.

Woodson, a midfielder, helped lead the Warhawks to three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championships, three WIAC Tournament titles and four appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament, including a trip to the national quarterfinals in 2015. She was named a third team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the WIAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2013, and finished her career as a three-time all-conference and two-time all-region honoree and the program's all time leader in career assists.

A two-time Academic All-America selection by the College Sports Information Directors of America, Woodson garnered NSCAA Women's College Division All-North/Central Region accolades twice and was the 2015 winner of the WIAC Women's Soccer Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete award. A four-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, Woodson belonged to four separate honor societies and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in international business and general management.

A two-year captain, Woodson was highly involved on campus and in the community during her tenure at UW-Whitewater. She served as vice president of TOMS Campus Club and fundraising coordinator for the International Business Club, and was a Veteran Warhawk and volunteer in the Warhawk Leadership Academy.

Woodson was named the Warhawks' 2015-16 Female Student-Athlete of the Year for her accomplishments.

Conference nominees for the Woman of the Year award will be announced later this summer. Each conference is allotted one nomination for the national award.
