Sophomore pitcher
Lake Bachar (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team is listed at No. 100 on Baseball America's College Top 100 Draft Prospects, the organization announced this week.
Bachar, a right-hander, is the lone student-athlete on the list from an NCAA Division III institution. In September, he was named the No. 1 prospect in the Northwoods League as part of Baseball America's 2015 Summer College League Top Prospects Index after competing for the Lakeshore Chinooks over the summer.
In 2015, his first collegiate season, Bachar helped lead the Warhawks to their third straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and the program's eighth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. He earned first team All-WIAC and D3baseball.com Midwest Region Rookie of the Year honors after tallying a 7-1 record with a 2.24 earned run average in 60 1/3 innings pitched. Bachar held opponents to a .231 batting average and totaled 46 strikeouts.
Bachar is also a two-time all-conference punter and kicker for the UW-Whitewater football team.
