Related Links:UW-Oshkosh Box ScoreLake Forest Box Score The No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team dropped just one match Saturday in a sweep of UW-Oshkosh and Lake Forest (Ill.) at Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wis.
The Warhawks (2-3 overall) shut out UW-Oshkosh 9-0 to start the day, then defeated Lake Forest 8-1 in the nightcap.
Against the Titans (0-3), UW-Whitewater surrendered just six games in doubles and didn't allow UW-Oshkosh to take more than three games in one set on the singles side.
Sophomores
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and
Martin Beck (Minneapolis/South) earned an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, while junior captain
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) combined with sophomore
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) for an 8-1 triumph at the third position. Senior
Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) and junior
Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) tallied an 8-4 win at the No. 1 slot. Shklyar improved to 8-3 for the year in doubles, the most wins on the team.
Senior captain
Cam Laktash (Crystal Lake, IL/South) and freshman
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) earned the most lopsided victories in singles. Laktash was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3, while Zurowski, the team's leader with seven singles wins this season, registered a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 4.
Junior
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the fifth spot. Junior
Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and sophomore
Justin Bowman (St Charles, IL/East) were also winners. Humphreys contributed a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at first singles, while Bowman tallied a 6-1, 6-2 win at the sixth slot. Freshman
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) rounded out UW-Whitewater scoring with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
In the match against Lake Forest (1-2), the Warhawks won all three doubles matches and earned five of six at singles.
Humphreys and Laktash earned their first win playing together this spring with an 8-0 shutout at No. 1. Butler and Navratil and Zurowski and freshman
Sebastian Lauterbach (Walworth, Wis./Big Foot) were victorious by identical 8-2 scores at the second and third positions, respectively.
Raman didn't allow a game in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles. Laktash and Beck allowed just one game apiece with identical 6-0, 6-1 victories at Nos. 3 and 5, respectively.
Treis and Schnarr were also winners. Treis defeated the Foresters' Dan Pivonka 6-2, 6-1 at the first slot, while Schnarr downed John Snider 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4.
UW-Whitewater continues its spring schedule next weekend. The Warhawks take on Carroll Saturday at 12 p.m. at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville, then visit 24th-ranked DePauw (Ind.) Sunday for a 5 p.m. contest.
