MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team made their mark in the school record book to finish first of three teams in the Harley Davidson Meet. The Warhawks used the fifth-best team total to defeat Division I Alaska-Anchorage for the second time this season 190.575-189.050. Winona State finished third with a total of 183.975.
The Warhawks opened the meet on the vault.
Katie Fiorilli (Solon, OH/Solon) finished second with a score of 9.65. Teammates
Chloe Rehberg (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) and
Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) tied for third in the event with identical scores of 9.575 to lead UW-Whitewater to a team total of 47.725, tenth-best in the school record book.Â
Using the momentum from a great first event, the Warhawks combined to total the fifth-best uneven bars total in school history, 47.825.
Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) led the charge with a 9.675 topping the competition.
Grayson Esslinger (Oshkosh, WI/Oshkosh West), Talcott and Fiorilli added top five finishes with scores of 9.575, 9.575 and 9.525 respectively.Â
On the balance beam,
Steffi Heuer (Clarksville, TN/Middle College at APSU) tied for top honors with a 9.6 to lead UW-Whitewater to a 47.700 team event total, fifth-best in the Warhawk record book.Â
Talcott put the finishing touches on the meet with a 9.625 to tie for first on the floor exercise.
Lewa Evans (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) and
Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) tied for fifth with scores of 9.5 to help the Warhawks to a team total of 47.325.Â
Pickett topped three Division I athletes to take first in the all-around competition with the eleventh-best total in program history, 38.250. Fiorilli totaled 36.850 for fifth in the all-around.Â
