The UW-Whitewater wrestling team has retained the ninth spot in this week's
Brute National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Poll.
Since the last poll on January 25, the Warhawks finished second out of thirty-one teams at the Pete Wilson Invitational at Wheaton College and defeated UW-Stevens Point in a dual match 26-10 in Stevens Point. UW-W also competed in the Blugold Invite, hosted by UW-Eau Claire, with no team scores.
Five Warhawk wrestlers were ranked in the
Brute individual rankings.
Jake Fredricksen (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) is sixth at 133;
Cade Sarbacher (Mineral Point/Iowa Grant) enters the individual rankings this week ranked sixth at 149;
Cedric Gibson (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield), another newcomer to the rankings, is tenth at 165;
David Dwyer (Rockton, IL/Hononegah) retains his ranking at seventh this week at 184; and
Corey Anderson (Rockton, IL/Hononegah) is third at 285.
The Warhawks have two more meets, both home meets, before the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Championship, which will be hosted by UW-Whitewater. The next home meet is February 9 against UW-Parkside in the Sake Bottle Dual and the second is February 16 against UW-Platteville for Senior Night. Both matches will begin at 7:00 pm.
