Five Warhawks Named to WIAC First Team

Tincher Named Pitcher of the Year, Vodenlich Coach of the Year

Rob Coe (Appleton/North), Jeff Donovan (Wauwatosa/East), Jason Hooper (Lake Mills/Lake Mills), Jordan Stine (Merrill/Merrill ), and Riley Tincher (Oregon/Oregon) were named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team.  Head coach John Vodenlich was named the conference Coach of the Year, and Riley Tincher (Oregon/Oregon) added Pitcher of the Year.

Junior catcher Rob Coe (Appleton/North) was named first team all-conference for the second straight year. He led the conference with a .494 on base percentage and 19 hit by pitches. Coe led the team, and was second in the WIAC, with a .394 batting average. He totaled 40 runs, 56 hits, 8 doubles, 4 home runs, 36 runs batted in, and was 6-9 in stolen bases.

Senior first baseman Jeff Donovan (Wauwatosa/East) earned his third, first team all-conference selection. Donovan also received the award in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He led the team and conference with 12 home runs, 60 runs batted in, and a .671 slugging percentage. Donovan was second in the conference with 110 total bases and 35 walks. He also added 50 runs, 58 hits, 14 doubles and was 6-8 in stolen bases.   Donovan was unique in being named as a first baseman and as a utility player. Donovan had a perfect 4-0 record with a 3.48 earned run average. Opponents batting average of .234 was second lowest in the conference.

Senior pitcher Jason Hooper (Lake Mills/Lake Mills) earned his second selection to the all-conference first team. Hooper had a 6-2 record with a 4.31 earned run average. He was second on the team with 57 strikeouts and third with 62.2 innings pitched. Hooper threw the Warhawks first no-hitter since 1993 in an eight strikeout performance against UW-Stout on April 11.

Senior center fielder Jordan Stine (Merrill/Merrill ) was named to the WIAC first team for the fourth time. Stine won the award in 2006, 2007, and 2008, sitting out the 2009 season due to injury. Stine led the conference with 60 runs scored and was second with 17 stolen bases. He totaled 64 hits, 12 doubles, 3 home runs and 47 runs batted in.

Junior pitcher Riley Tincher (Oregon/Oregon) was named to the WIAC First Team and the conference's pitcher of the year. Tincher led the team and conference with an 11-1 record and 83.2 innings pitched. He added two complete games, struck out 67, and had an earned run average of 4.41.  This award has only been around for 15 years, with Whitewater hurlers winning it six times.

Head coach John Vodenlich was named the WIAC Coach of the Year. Vodenlich took over as head coach in 2004, and was named the coach of the year for the 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2010 seasons. During his seven seasons with the Warhawks he has compiled a record of 249-80-1, leading the team to conference championships six out of the seven years. In the 2010 season Vodenlich led the Warhawks to a 38-5 record and a top three ranking in both national polls and a berth in the NCAA III championship tournament.

The Warhawks also had four players designated as honorable mention all-conference. Senior shortstop Mike Kenseth (Milwaukee/West Allis Hale), senior second baseman Ben Kuhlmann (Minneapolis, MN/Southwest), sophomore pitcher Aaron Leitner (Chilton/Chilton ), and junior outfielder Daniel Putman. Representing Whitewater for the all-sportsmanship team was senior infielder Nick Rechlitz (Milwaukee/Marquette).
