Mitchell Garners Postseason Honor

The National Association of Basketball Coaches has named senior center, Dustin Mitchell (Lac Du Flambeau/Lakeland)  to the 2010 State Farm Division III All-America First Team as well as naming him the Most Outstanding Player on the West Region All-District Team.

Averaging 18 points per game and 8 rebounds, while shooting 63% from the floor, Mitchell led the Warhawks to a 23-6 overall record.  UW-W won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and earned a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship tournament.  Mitchell ended his career with 1,036 points and 539 rebounds. He is the third player in school history to reach the mark of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Mitchell is the sixth Warhawk to receive first team all-American honors and the fourth UW-W center to be named to an all-American team.  Other Warhawks named first team all-Americans are Matt Goodwin (Milwaukee/King) in 2008, James Stewart in 1997, Ty Evans 1993 and 1994, and Ricky Spicer in 1990. The four Whitewater centers to receive all-America recognition include  Tirrell Carter in 1997, Robert Barnes in 1987, and Mark Linde in 1985.

Mitchell was recently named First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the league's Most Valuable Player.
