Kehoe Qualifies for 800 Finals

Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe) qualified for the finals of the 800 meters with his performance in the preliminaries at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana Friday.  See Warhawk Championship Central

Kehoe was timed in 1:54.13 in his preliminary heet.  The top time in the prelims was turned in by David Litsheim of UW-Stevens Point at 1:52.54.  Kehoe, UW-W's school record holder in the event at 1:52.62, is aiming for his second all-America honor, having finished sixth in the 2009 national indoor meet.  The top eight finishers in each event, including relays, are considered track and field all-Americans.  The 800 final is set for 2:35 Saturday.

Kehoe was also part of UW-W's distance medley relay, which unfortunately immediately followed the 800 on the program.  The relay was timed in 10:18.97, finishing eleventh.  UW-Stevens Point won the event in 10:02.38.  Kehoe was joined by Jeremie Bogard (Racine/Horlick), Joe Dixon (Milwaukee/Rufus King), and Brakken Kraker (West Allis/West Allis Central).

UW-W has several qualifiers who will enter competition Saturday.  Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) and Travis Morehouse (Cottage Grove/Monona Grove) will be in the high jump beginning at 2:30, and the 4x400 relay will be the final event of the meet at 3:40.  Buchholz earned all-America honors with an eighth place finish last year, and he and Morehouse finished 1-2 in the recent Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference indoor championship.  The Warhawk 4x400, which set a school record of 3:18.96 in qualifying for the national meet, includes Joe Bailey (Hartford/Hartford Union), Brian Martinezdelacotera (Franklin/Franklin), Tim Prelletz (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge), and Peter Schroeder (Ripon/Ripon).
