The Warhawk women's cross country team finished twelfth out of 39 teams at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Midwest Regional at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin on Saturday.  The top two teams and top seven individuals who are not a member of those teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship on November 21 in Beachwood, Ohio. Additional team and individual selections will be announced on Sunday, November 15.

Madeline Roznos (Reedsburg/Reedsburg) recorded the fourth fastest time in school history on a 6k course and the fastest time of the season with a 22:41 run.  The time was good for 30th place out of 273 runners.  Roznos also earned All-Midwest Region honors with the finish.  The top 35 runners receive All-Midwest Region honors.

UW-Eau Claire won the regional with 52 points and Washington University (Mo.) came in second with 72 points.  Both teams automatically advance to the NCAA DIII Championship on November 15.  The top seven individuals to advance that were not on those teams are: Ayla Mitchell (UW-Oshkosh), Jenny Scherer (St. Norbert), Stephanie Perleber (UW-La Crosse), Megan O'Grady (Carroll), Kerry Devitt (Illinois Wesleyan), Katelyn Williams (UW-La Crosse), and Mary Kate Beyer (Monmouth).

UW-W will await the announcement of the remaining teams to earn a trip to the NCAA Championship. If the Warhawks do not receive an invitation, their 2009 season will come to an end.
